We expect that our units will be some of the best kept in the neighborhoods we service.  In order to do that you need to know about the garbage collection rules for your city.  Please review the following guidelines.  If you need more information visit the appropriate city’s website or our office.

Regular Garbage Collection:

Residents of Wayne and Westland are provided with a sanitation cart that is to be used for their weekly garbage collection.  It is your responsibility to keep track of and to maintain the cart.  Residents of our Inkster properties provided their own garbage collection can(s).

Wayne:  Items not fitting in the cart provided require special pick-up.  Please call at least 48 hours prior to your normal pick up day to schedule.

Westland:  Items not fitting in the cart provided require special pick-up.  Items must be paid for prior to pick-up either by visiting the City’s website or by visiting City Hall.  See the City’s website for a current list of charges http://cityofwestland.com/live/new-sanitation-new-/special-pickup-fees

Inkster:  Residents supply their own garbage cans.  For items that do not fit in a normal sized garbage can call Department of Public Services at 313-563-9774 to schedule a special pick-up.

Recycling:

Wayne:  Residents are encouraged to collect their recyclable items and dispose of them at the Recycling Center located in the parking lot of Building & Engineering Department at the corner of Forest & Wayne Roads.

Westland:  Residents are provided with a blue recycling cart that is picked-up every other week on the normal trash collection day.  For information on what items can be recycled please see the Recycling Works PDF or visit the City’s website at http://cityofwestland.com/departments/public-service/curbside-recycling

Inkster:  Recycling is not available

Wayne & Westland also participate in Simple Recycling.  A program that allows you to recycle clothes and small household items in working order on your normal trash day by placing them in a special bag for pick-up.  See details at the city’s website http://cityofwestland.com/departments/public-service/simple-recycling

Compost:

Yard waste cannot be disposed of in regular trash or in plastic bags.  It must be in separate garbage cans marked “yard waste” or in brown Kraft paper bags.

Wayne & Westland:  Compost season runs from the first week of April to the first week of December.  It is picked up weekly on your normal trash day.  Visit http://cityofwestland.com/departments/public-service/composting for more information.

Inkster:  Compost season runs from the first week of April to the last week of May on a weekly basis.  The months of June, July, August, September and October it runs bi-weekly.  The month of November compost is picked up every week.  See the City of Inkster’s website for complete details http://www.cityofinkster.com/Services/PublicServices/Overview-PublicServices.as
